Choosing the Right Pressure Washer Pump for Portable Sanitation

Choosing the Right Pressure Washer Pump for Portable Sanitation

Pumptec was founded in 1988 with a simple mission to build durable, high-quality commercial pumps that exceed our customer’s expectations. Over the decades, we have developed a deep understanding of pressure washer pump requirements for efficient portable sanitation applications. We combine our expertise and passion to address the challenges portable sanitation employees face with innovative features designed to improve speed and ease of use.

3 Main Factors of Choosing the Right Pressure Washer Pump

In the portable sanitation industry, the right pressure washer pump can mean the difference between servicing the whole route on a single tank of water or stopping halfway through and returning to the shop to refill. When looking into pressure washer pumps for portable sanitation, there are three main factors to consider.

Pressure Levels

Pressure levels, measured in pounds per square inch (psi), determine how much force the water has when it leaves the nozzle. In the simplest of terms, the higher the pressure, the greater the force at the end of the nozzle. When commercial pressure washer pumps lack the robust psi required to clean efficiently, sanitation workers must manually wipe down the units, which is unpleasant in the best of times and eats into productivity by slowing down the time to clean and refill the houses and handwashing stations.

Too much pressure, on the other hand, will atomize the water droplets. These smaller droplets lose their impact force the further they travel from the end of the nozzle, resulting in a subpar washdown. When searching for your next commercial pressure washer pump for portable sanitation, aim for around 150 psi to ensure a more thorough and efficient clean.

Flow Rates

When it comes to efficiently hosing down and refilling portable sanitation units, flow rate is particularly important. Measured in gallons per minute (GPM), the flow rate determines how much water moves through the pump. For years, pump manufacturers have been trying to improve cleaning technology by providing more pressure while still maintaining 2 GPM or less out of the nozzle to conserve fresh water. However, low flow rates extend the time to wash down and refill portable sanitation units.

The ideal pressure washer pump combines a moderate psi rating with a high flow rate. The nozzle and bypass regulator for your pump are the keys to reducing water waste, preventing unnecessary water loss, and dispersing the water without atomizing it for a superior washdown.

Convenience

Every second matters in the portable sanitation industry. A single route can contain 100 or more units, all requiring thorough cleaning and refilling. Hoses need to be hooked up and dragged to each unit for washdown, and another hose or a bucket brigade refills the units. This is heavy, hard work that takes its toll on workers and time clocks.

The Deuce by Pumptec is the solution. It features a revolutionary single-hose washdown and refill-capable nozzle with XL H2O technology that allows us to keep larger droplets, therefore creating more impact force on the surface. This washdown and refill pump boasts an impressive 5 GPM and 150 psi that powers through the washdown, and the specially designed nozzle is removable to allow rapid refill without secondary hoses or hauling heavy buckets.
