Whether you live on a boat or in the outback, access to fresh water is crucial. Australian-based H2O on The Go has made it their mission to support those who live off the grid by designing and manufacturing the most affordable and reliable portable water makers available.
While those of us who live on the grid usually don’t think twice about access to fresh water, people who live the portable life are limited by what their chosen form of transportation can carry. The viability of their lifestyle depends on the ability to convert whatever water they can find into fresh, potable water. One of the most effective methods for doing this is reverse osmosis; a process that forces a solvent from Reverse Osmosis a region of high solute concentration through a semipermeable membrane to a region of low-solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure. It’s highly effective in treating brackish, surface, and ground water.
For sea dwellers, one of the challenges of creating fresh water with a reverse osmosis system is what the seawater
itself does to the system. Seawater is corrosive and breaks down the system’s metal components; putting the whole system in jeopardy.
H2O on The Go needed a system that could reliably withstand a salty environment. The overall footprint of the system was another challenge. The watermakers needed to meet compact size and weight restrictions yet still generate sufficient water capacity for its users. H2O on The Go turned to Pumptec for help overcoming these challenges.
Exploring the characteristics of a seawater environment alongside H2O on The Go’s engineers, Pumptec’s design team developed a marine-grade, stainless steel pump with ceramic plungers.
The 107SS pump works with both 12v and 24v motors and can be solar-powered. The power to water ratio of the new system was significantly improved. The 105 cam offset creates the perfect amount of flow to ensure that the membranes of the reverse osmosis system, which must be kept wet, won’t be fouled by low water supply.
H20 on The Go now has an affordable, portable, reverse osmosis system that produces enough freshwater to support their customers’ needs. The system’s portability and durability also made it an excellent solution for nearly any off-the-grid application. With this new system, H2O on The Go continues to be lead the portable water maker market worldwide.
